A pressure compensator (28) for a sub-sea pumping system (1) for pumping an effluent from a deep-sea wellhead comprising a topside module (3), a sub-sea module (5), and an umbilical connection (7) between the topside (3) and sub-sea modules (5). Hydraulic fluid is circulated through the sub-sea module (5) for cooling and lubricating the motor (21) and the pump (23). The hydraulic cooling and lubricating fluid is preferably a single hydraulic fluid that is compatible with the effluent being pumped. The hydraulic fluid is circulated through a submerged pressure compensator (28) which may include a bellows assembly (71). The pressure compensator (28) is responsive to the pressure of the effluent being pumped and pressurizes the hydraulic cooling and lubricating fluid to a pressure above the pressure of the effluent. The pressure compensator also responds when the volume of hydraulic cooling and lubricating fluid in the system is reduced or increased, such as by leakage or thermal expansion, in order to maintain the pressure of the hydraulic fluid.

Cette invention concerne un compensateur de pression (28) destiné à un système de pompage sous-marin (1) qui permet de pomper des effluents depuis une tête de puits en haute mer, et qui comprend un module de surface (3), un module sous-marin (5), ainsi qu'une connexion ombilicale (7) entre le module de surface (3) et le module sous-marin (5). Un fluide hydraulique circule à travers le module sous-marin (5) de manière à refroidir et à lubrifier le moteur (21) et la pompe (23). Le fluide hydraulique de refroidissement et de lubrification consiste de préférence en un fluide hydraulique unique qui est compatible avec les effluents pompés. Ce fluide hydraulique circule à travers un compensateur de pression (28) immergé qui peut être équipé d'un système de soufflets (71). Le compensateur de pression (28) va réagir à la pression des effluents que l'on pompe, et faire passer le fluide hydraulique de refroidissement et de lubrification à une pression supérieure à celle des effluents. Le compensateur de pression va également réagir à une réduction ou à une augmentation du volume de fluide hydraulique de refroidissement et de lubrification dans le système, que ce soit dans le cas d'une fuite ou d'une dilatation thermique, ceci de manière à maintenir la pression dudit fluide hydraulique.
