A method of manufacturing an industrial fabric comprising the steps of knitting a first fabric strip portion having two widthwise edges and a width that is narrower than the industrial fabric to the desired length of the industrial fabric, forming the first fabric strip portion into an endless loop by joining the widthwise edges with a CD seam, placing the first fabric strip portion around two rotatably mounted rolls and knitting a second fabric portion to the desired length of the industrial fabric, where knitting of the second fabric portion proceeds along the first edge of the first fabric portion and is a knitted continuation thereof. Alternatively, knitted fabric strips can be joined together in a spiral fashion to create a full width industrial fabric.

L'invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un tissu industriel comprenant les étapes consistant à tricoter une première partie de bande de tissu ayant deux bords transversaux et une largeur plus étroite que le tissu industriel à la longueur souhaitée du tissu industriel, former la première partie de bande de tissu en une boucle sans fin en joignant les bords transversaux à l'aide d'une couture CD, placer la première partie de bande de tissu autour de deux rouleaux montés de manière rotative et tricoter une seconde partie de tissu à la longueur souhaitée du tissu industriel, le tissage de la seconde partie de tissu ayant lieu le long du premier bord de la première partie de tissu et étant un prolongement tricoté de celle-ci. En variante, des bandes de tissu tricotées peuvent être jointes ensemble d'une manière en spirale pour créer un tissu industriel de pleine largeur.
