An implantable pacemaker is provided with subcutaneous spiral electrodes for sensing electrical signals of the heart. Subcutaneous spirals or spiral electrodes are embedded individually into three or four recessed casings placed in a compliant surround that is attached to the perimeter of the implanted medical device. The electrodes are electrically connected to the circuitry of the implanted pacemaker and detect cardiac depolarization waveforms displayable as electrocardiographic tracings on an external instrument such as a programmer. The spiral electrode constitutes the proximal end of a continuous wire that upon egress from the recessed casing is insulated using insulative material.
La présente invention concerne un stimulateur cardiaque implantable, pourvu d'électrodes sous-cutanée en spirale conçues pour capter les signaux électriques du coeur. Les spirales sous-cutanées ou électrodes à spirale sont incorporées chacune dans trois ou quatre boîtiers encastrés installés dans une bande élastique qui est reliée au périmètre du dispositif médical implanté. Les électrodes sont électriquement connectées à l'ensemble des circuits du stimulateur cardiaque implanté et elles détectent les formes d'ondes de dépolarisation cardiaque pouvant s'afficher comme des tracés d'électrocardiogramme sur un instrument externe, tel qu'un programmateur. L'électrode à spirale constitue l'extrémité proximale d'un fil continu qui, lorsqu'il est retiré du boîtier encastré, est isolé à l'aide d'un matériau isolant.
