ABSTRACT The invention regards a submarine electric cable provided with a tubular stiffening-means in correspondence of the uneven stretches found at the depth of the body of water where the cable is laid. The invention also concerns a method for disposing said tubular stiffening-means around said cable, during the laying operation, on that tract of cable that is comprised between the capstan on the cable-ship and the surface of the water itself. According to this invention, said tubular stiffening-means is endowed with a rigidity that is greater than that of the cable itself - in such a way that the cable is not subject to any bend- ing surpassing the minimum bending radius admissible - i.e. beyond the value which gives origin to impairments in the cable itself. According to a preferred form of realization, said tubular stiffening-means is formed out of a plurality of tubular elements, each one of which is comprised by two shells having C-shaped cross-sections and annular corrugations. Said shells are connected to one another and joined also to the contiguous shells of the plurality, by means of 'collars' - each one of which is constituted by two semi-collars that are fixable to one another, having C-shaped cross-sections and annular corrugations that can be disposed in the annular corrugations of said shells.
