A fluorescent dye-doped crystalline assay is employed for selection and detection of thiophilic heavy metal ions. While comparable in analytical performance to known solution based methodologies, the formation of crystalline analytes provides for signal amplification, and consequently, a powerful platform whose analysis is directly amenable to high-throughput video capture systems. In a microcapillary format, this assay is capable of screening hundreds of samples per day for the presence of subnanomolar concentrations of Hg2+ using a conventional fluorescence microscope.

La présente invention concerne un essai sur cristaux utilisant un dopage à la teinture fluorescente pour sélectionner et détecter des ions de métaux thiophiles lourds. Tout en gardant une puissance d'analyse comparable à ce que donnent les procédés actuels à base de solution, le procédé de l'invention avec formation d'analysats cristallins permet en outre une amplification du signal. Il en découle qu'on peut ainsi disposer d'une puissante plate-forme dont l'analyse est exploitable pour des systèmes à capture vidéo à fort débit. En format microcapillaire, cet essai permet de rechercher systématiquement dans des centaines d'échantillons chaque jour la présence de concentrations subnanomolaire de Hg2+ avec un microscope conventionnel à fluorescence.
