- 30 - Abstract SUBSCRIBER LINE INTERFACE CIRCUIT WITH DIFFERENTIAL VOLTAGE SENSING AND COMPENSATION A Line Interface Circuit (Figure 1) for connection to a telephone line at TIP and RING terminals (2, 3), the circuit having d.c. feed TIP and RING feed amplifiers (20, 30) for controlling energizing direct current via the telephone line, TIP and RING feed resistors (21, 31) connected between the TIP and RING terminals and the TIP and RING feed amplifiers respectively, TIP and RING taps (23, 33) coupled between the TIP and RING feed resistors and the TIP and RING feed amplifiers respectively, a line a.c. terminating impedance means connected between the TIP and RING taps, and a differential amplifier (50) having differential inputs coupled respectively to the TIP and RING taps and having an output coupled to inputs of the TIP and RING feed amplifiers. The circuit provides longitudinal impedance balance between the TIP and RING terminals without requiring matching TIP and RING feed resistors, The circuit also produces a high degree of independence between the a.c. and d.c. terminating impedances and provides a.c. transmission performance which is independent of d.c. energizing current, the circuit suitable for ON-HOOK transmission applications such as telemetering of subscriber terminal equipment.
