ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A high-pressure test cap is provided for mounting on a multiconduit pipeline for use in testing the structural integrity and pressurized-fluid handling capability of the pipeline after it has been positioned on the marine floor. The test cap can be removed from the pipeline and recovered from the marine floor for reuse. Also provided by the invention as disclosed is a method for installing an undersea pipeline between a first connection point and a second connection point, comprising the steps of (a) attaching the abovementioned high pressure test cap to one end or to both ends of the pipeline; (b) laying the pipeline between the first and second connection points; (c) testing the pressure- retaining ability of the pipeline and test cap(s) in situ to confirm the integrity of the pipeline; (d) removing the test cap(s) from the pipeline; and (e) operatively connecting the pipeline between the first and second connection points to establish fluid communication through the pipeline.
