Image wherein R1 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen; alkyl(C1-C6); polyfluorinated alkyls(C1-C6); phenyl; (multisubstituted)phenyl wherein the substituents are selected from alkyl(C1-C6), alkoxy(C1-C3), chloro, fluoro and trifluoromethyl; naphthyl; thienyl; phenylthio; tetrahydropyranyl; benzyl; and -COOC2H5; and R2 is selected from the group consisting of amino and alkoxy(C1-C3). These compounds are useful as intermediates in the synthesis of cephalosporins.
