ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE The invention relates to novel substituted 1,3,4- thiadiazola[3,2-a] pyrimidines of formula Image and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts. R1 is typically a hydrogen, chlorine atom or a lower alkyl, phenyl or halogen- substituted phenyl group. R2 is typically a hydrogen atom. R3 is typically a 2-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl, 4-pyridyl, phenyl or halogen- substituted phenyl group. The compounds are active on the gastroenteric tract and display anti-ulcerogenic and gastori anti-secretory activity. They are useful for reducing undesirable gastrointestinal side-effects resulting from systemic administra- tion of anti-inflammatory prostaglandin synthetase inhibitors. The compounds also display anti-inflammatory and analgesic activity.
