Substituted 1-13-(heteroarylmethoxy)phenyl]-alkanols and related compounds of the formula: Image (wherein X is CH2 or O; Y is hydroxy or acyloxy; R is aromatic or heteroaromatic group; R1 is heteroaromatic group; and R2 is hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy) which, by inhibiting 5-lipoxygenase enzyme and/or blocking leukotriene receptors, are useful in the prevention or treatment of asthma, arthritis, psoriasis, ulcers, myocardial infarction, stroke and related disease states in mammals. Also disclosed are pharmaceutical compositions containing the compounds.
