ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE 2,2-Disubstituted-ethylamines Substituted 2-phenyl-ethylamines and isosteric compounds of general formula (I) Image wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a methyl, methoxy, amino or nitro group; R3 represents a hydrogen or halogen atom or a methyl group; R4 and R5, which may be the same or different, either each represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group with 1 or 2 carbon atoms or, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached they may form a pyrrolidino or morpholino ring, and X represents O, NH or S; and acid addition salts thereof. The new compounds are highly effective antidepressants with a structure hitherto unknown in this field of application.
