ABSTRACT The invention relates to novel substituted 4-(2- -thienylmethylamino)-benzoic acid compounds, a hypolipidemic composition containing same, and a process for preparing the compounds. The compounds correspond to the formula Image wherein R is hydrogen or C1-3 alkyl, and X, Y, and Z independently represent hydrogen, chloro, or bromo, with the proviso that at least one of X, Y, and Z is chloro or bromo, and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof. The compounds are useful for lowering serum lipid levels in mammals. 18,307-F
