ABSTRACT A substituted-acetamide of the formula: Image wherein R1 is aryl which may have one or more suitable substituent(s), R2 is aryl which may have one or more suitable substituent(s), lower alkyl or cyclo(lower)alkyl, R3 is hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen, lower alkenyl, amino or protected amino, R4 is a group of the formula: Image wherein R5 is lower alkyl which may have one or more suitable substituent(s), cyclo(lower)alkyl, aryl, ar(lower)alkyl which may have one or more suitable substituent(s), and R6 is hydrogen or lower alkyl; or N-containing heterocyclic group which may have one or more suitable substituent(s), and A is lower alkylene or lower alkynylene, in which R1 and R2 may be linked through oxygen atom, and a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. These compounds and salts have anticholinergic activity, and are useful for the treatment of dysuria such as pollakiuria, urinary incontinence or the like in case of nervous pollakiuria, neurogenic bladder dysfunction, nocturia, unstable bladder, cystospasm, chronic cystitis, chronic prostatitis or the like. They are also useful for the treatment of convulsion and/or hypanakinesis in case of gastric ulcer, duodenal ulcer, gastroxynsis, esophagospasm, gastritis, enteritis, irritable colon syndrome, enteralgia, cholecystitis, chloangitis, pylorospasm, pancreatitis, pain in case of pancreatitis, biliary dyskinesia, after effect after cholecystectomy, urinary calculus, cystitis, dysmenorrhea, hidrosis, convulsion of urinary tract. They may also be used for the treatment of asthma, Parkinson disease, angina pectris or the like. Also disclosed are the preparation thereof, a pharmaceutical composition comprising the same and a method for the treatment of the aforesaid diseases in human being or animals.
