ABSTRACT Novel compounds of the formula Image for example, wherein R1, R2 and R4 are hydrogen, X is oxygen or CH2, R3 is p-methoxybenzyl and R5 is p-carboethoxyphenyl or -(CH2)5COOH. The compounds are variously useful for sel- ectively inhibiting the action of the enzyme thromboxane syn- thetase and in treating diseases which involve platelet dys- function or platelet hyperactivity, such as cerebrovascular disease, ischaemic heart disease, diabetic retinopathy, an- gina, peripheral vascular disease and myocardial infarction.
