A B S T R A C T The invention relates to substituted dipeptides having the formula: Image and the pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, (wherein the substituents R1, R2, R3, R5, R6, R7, R8 and R9 as well as X and y are as defined in the specification). The invention also relates to processes for preparing such compounds and to pharmaceutical compositions containing them. The compounds particularly useful in the inhibition of enkephalinase.
