ABSTRACT OF THE INVENTION Fatty ethers are provided which are lower alkyl ethers cyano-sub- stituted lower alkyl ethers, ester ethers or amide ethers of fatty alcohols substituted with at least one of the following substituents: formyl, methylol, or acryloxymethyl. The substituted fatty ethers are useful as monomers in a wide variety of polymer systems.
