ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Novel compounds of the formula: Image or Image wherein each of R1, R2 and R3, which can be the same or different, is hydro- gen, chloro, bromo, fluoro, methyl, ethyl, methoxy, amino, hydroxy or nitro; R4 is hydrogen or alkyl of 1 to 7 carbon atoms; R5 is hydrogen or a straight or branched alkyl group of 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a phenyl group; R6 is hydrogen or an alkyl group of 1 to 7 carbon atoms,or a benzyl group , or a sub- stituted benzyl group of the formula Image , where R1, R2 and R3 are defined above, and n is 0 or 1; provided that when R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 all are hydrogen and R1 is (a) chloro, then R1 must be in the 3-position; (b) methyl or methoxy, then R1 must be in the 2- or 3-posi- tion, or (c) hydrogen, then n must be other than 1; and their non-toxic, phar- maceutically-acceptable, acid-addition salts and mixtures thereof, are pro- vided herein. Processes for the preparation of these compounds are described, as are novel pharmaceutical compositions comprising at least one of the com- pounds or their salts. The compounds and their non-toxic salts exhibit valua- ble pharmacological activity and are useful in the treatment of mammals, e.g. as diuretic agents. Furthermore, some of these compounds have antithrombotic and antihypertensive effects.
