Certain novel substituted piperidine compounds are agonists of the human melanocortin receptor(s) and, in particular, are selective agonists of the human melanocortin-4 receptor (MC-4R). They are therefore useful for the treatment, control, or prevention of diseases and disorders responsive to the activation of MC-4R, such as obesity, diabetes, sexual dysfunction, including erectile dysfunction and female sexual dysfunction. Also provided are methods of treating sexual dysfunction with a compound that is a selective agonist of MC-4R over any other human melanocortin receptor.

Certains composés de pipéridine substituée sont des agonistes du(des) récepteur(s) de mélanocortine humain(s) et, en particulier, des agonistes sélectifs du récepteur humain de mélanocortine-4 (MC-4R). Ils sont donc utiles pour le traitement ou la prévention de maladies et de troubles réagissant à l'activation de MC-4, par exemple obésité, diabètes, dysfonctionnement sexuel, dysérection et dysfonctionnement sexuel chez la femme. L'invention concerne également des procédés de traitement de dysfonctionnement sexuel utilisant un composé, soit un agoniste sélectif de MC-4R par rapport à tout autre récepteur de mélanocortine humain.
