Metal complexes comprising a polycyclic, fused ring ligand comprising at least: (1) a cyclopentadienyl ring, (2) a =J* substituted 7 membered polyatomic ring, where =J* is =(C)c=CR*2, =NR*, or =0, where R* is hydrogen, C1-10 hydrocarbyl, N,N-di(C1-4 alkyl)amino, or halogen, and c is 0, 1 or 2; and (3) one or more aromatic ring systems, with the proviso that said substituted 7 membered ring (2), is fused to both the cyclopentadienyl ring (1), and said one or more aromatic ring systems (3), polymerization catalysts, and olefin polymerization processes using the same are disclosed.

L'invention concerne des complexes métalliques comprenant un ligand polycyclique à noyau fusionné qui renferme au moins: 1) un noyau cyclopentadiényle; 2) un noyau polyatomique à 7 éléments =J* substitué, =J* représentant =(C)c=CR*2, =NR*, ou =O, R* représentant hydrogène, C¿1?-¿10? hydrocarbyle, N,N-di(C¿1-4 ?alkyl)amino, ou halogène, et c étant égal à 0, 1 ou 2; et 3) un ou plusieurs système(s) de noyaux aromatiques à condition que le noyau substitué à 7 éléments (2) soit fusionné avec à la fois le noyau cyclopentadiényle (1) et le ou les système(s) de noyaux aromatiques (3). L'invention concerne également des catalyseurs de polymérisation et des procédés de polymérisation d'oléfines utilisant lesdits complexes.
