Compounds of the formula (I) provide pharmacological agents which are glucokinase activators and thus may be employed for the treatment of glucokinase mediated conditions. Accordingly, the compounds of formula (I) may be employed for prevention and treatment of impaired glucose tolerance, Type 2 diabetes and obesity, wherein Q is formula (II) or formula (III), R is a radical of the formula (IV) or (V) or (VI) wherein Y, R1-R6, R12 and R13 are as defined in the description.
