ABSTRACT A substituted type photographic yellow coupler having the general formula, Image wherein Cp is a residue formed by removing one hydrogen atom of the active methylene group; and R1 and R2 are having an active methylene group; and R1 and R2 are individually a hydrogen atom or an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl, cycloakyl, benzylidene or carboxyl group, provided that R2 may be removed and R1 may form a benzylidene group by bonding through a double bond to the carbon to which R1 is bonded.
