A computing device-implemented method and system is provided for obtaining an interim masked substitution table value for a given input component in a cryptographic round, such as an AES cryptographic round, using a substitution table and a self-cancelling mask. A mask with a length equal to an entry in the substitution table is provided, wherein the mask comprises a plurality of mask components of equal length such that a bitwise logical inequality operation such as XOR on the mask components equals zero, and the substitution table is masked with this mask. For each of input component, an interim masked substitution table value is obtained from the substitution table thus masked.

La présente invention concerne un système et un procédé mis en AEuvre par un dispositif informatique qui permettent d'obtenir une valeur provisoire de table de substitution masquée pour une composante d'entrée donnée dans un cycle de chiffrement, tel un cycle de chiffrement AES, en utilisant une table de substitution et un masque d'auto-annulation. On définit un masque d'une longueur égale à une entrée de la table de substitution, le masque comprenant une pluralité de composantes de masque de même longueur, de sorte qu'une opération d'inégalité logique au niveau du bit, telle qu'un OU exclusif, sur les composantes du masque soit égale à zéro, puis la table de substitution est masquée avec ce masque. A partir de la table de substitution ainsi masquée, on obtient pour chaque composante d'entrée une valeur provisoire de table de substitution masquée.
