ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An article is disclosed for the assay of a ligand which comprises a solid substrate having thereon a receptor for both the ligand to be assayed and a labelled form of the ligand to be assayed. The labelled form of the ligand is reversibly coated on the surface of the receptor and is removed from the receptor during assay for re-equilibration with the receptor in competition with the ligand to be assayed.
