A substrate for information recording media manufactured from a glass having a Young's modulus of 100 GPa or above and a liquidus temperature of 1,350 ~C or below, in order to overcome the problem that, although a higher rotating speed is required for magnetic disks, an attempt at increasing the rotating speed of a magnetic disk by using the conventional glass substrates for information storing media makes difficult to stably secure the flying height of the disk.

Ce substrat permet de solutionner le problème posé par la stabilisation de la hauteur de survol du disque, bien qu'une vitesse élevée de rotation soit nécessaire pour les disques magnétiques, rendue difficile par la tentative d'augmentation de la vitesse de rotation du disque magnétique lorsqu'on utilise les substrats classiques en verre pour des supports d'enregistrement d'information.
