NOVEL SUBSTRATE PEPTIDES Abstract of the Disclosure A peptide substrate useful as a substrate for myristoylating enzymes in yeast and mammalian cells is disclosed having an amino acid sequence selected from the group consisting of the following sequences or a physio- logically acceptable amide or salt derivative thereof: Image or Image , wherein R = Ala, Asn, Gln or Ser; S = Ala, Arg, Gln, Glu, Phe or Ser; T = Ala or Lys; W = Ala or Ser; X = Ala, Tyr, or Lys; Y = Arg or Pro; and Z = Arg, Leu or Lys; with the proviso that when S-T-W-X-Y-Z is Ala-Ala-Ala-Ala-Arg-Arg R is not Asn.
