The present invention provides high density, non-volatile memory devices incorporating polymers comprised of sandwich coordination compounds (fig.5, fig.6). Such polymers can have multiple different and distinguishable oxidation states (e.g., ten different and distinguishable oxidation states), and thus provide molecules, information storage media and apparatus that store multiple bits of information. In addition, the polymers can be immobilized or bound to a substrate to produce other useful articles, such as electrochromic displays (221), molecular capacitors (208), and batteries (222).
L'invention concerne des dispositifs de mémoire non volatile, haute densité, incorporant des polymères se composant de composés de coordination du type sandwich (figures 5 et 6). De tels polymères peuvent posséder plusieurs état d'oxydation différents et identifiables (par exemple dix états d'oxydation différents et identifiables), et donc constituent des molécules, des supports et appareils de stockage d'informations, lesquels stockent plusieurs bits d'information. En outre, on peut immobiliser ces polymères sur un substrat ou les lier à celui-ci, afin de produire d'autres articles utiles, tels que des affichages électrochromiques (221), des condensateurs moléculaires (208), et des batteries (222).
