A method of predicting subsurface properties of a geologic formation includes acquiring seismic data for a subsurface region including the geologic formation of interest, computing seismic attributes of the measured seismic data over at least part of this geologic formation, determining internally consistent rock properties representative of the geologic formation, generating models of the same part of the geologic formation with these rock properties, computing synthetic seismic data from the models, computing the same attributes from these synthetic seismic data, and using Bayesian analysis to predict, from the probability of modeled attributes given the models, the probability of the actual subsurface properties given the measured attributes.

L'invention concerne un procédé d'évaluation des propriétés de subsurface d'une formation géologique qui inclut l'acquisition de données sismiques pour une région du sous-sol incluant la formation géologique d'intérêt, le calcul des attributs sismiques des données sismiques mesurées sur au moins une partie de cette formation géologique, la détermination des propriétés de roche intérieurement homogène de la formation géologique, la génération de modèles de la même partie de la formation géologique avec ces propriétés de roche, le calcul de données sismiques de synthèse à partir des modèles, le calcul des mêmes attributs à partir de ces données sismiques de synthèse, et l'utilisation d'une analyse bayésienne pour évaluer, à partir de la probabilité des attributs modélisés étant donnés les modèles, la probabilité des propriétés réelles de subsurface étant donnés les attributs mesurés.
