SUCRALFATE SUSPENSION Abstract of the Disclosure This invention provides a suspension effective for the treatment of ulcerative conditions from the mouth to the duodenum. The suspension comprises a pharmaceutically ef- fective amount of a disaccharide polysulfate-aluminum com- pound, such as sucralfate and a pharmaceutically acceptable suspending agent and is capable of forming a viscous mass when added to 0,5 N hydrochloric acid. The suspension may additionally contain bodying agents, preservatives, antifoam agents, flavors and coloring agents. A preferred formulation is an aqueous suspension containing 10% sucralfate and employing a suspending agent composed of 1% microcrystalline cellulose, 0.2% colloidal silicon dioxide, and 0.25% methylcellulose (4000 cps), in combination with 20% sorbitol 70% and 9.9% glycerin 99.5% as bodying agents, 0.2% methylparaben as a preservative and 0.3% simethicone 30% emulsion as an antifoaming agent.
