A patient fluid collection system (40) is disclosed which includes a fluid collection reservoir (48), a cover (62) for the reservoir, and a port (300) on the reservoir having a scalloped upper edge (304). The scalloped upper edge prevents the port from being inadvertently closed off in the event that a tube valve containing a flapper valve is improperly positioned on the port.
