The intention relates to bacterial antibiotic resistance and, in particular, to compositions and methods for overcoming bacterial antibiotic resistance. The invention provides novel .beta.-lactamase inhibitors, which are structurally unrelated to the natural product and semi-synthetic .beta.-lactamase inhibitors presently available, and which do not require a .beta.-lactam pharmacophore. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions and methods for inhibiting bacterial growth.
L'invention se rapporte à la résistance de bactéries aux antibiotiques et, en particulier, à des compositions et méthodes permettant de vaincre la résistance de bactéries aux antibiotiques. L'invention concerne de nouveaux inhibiteurs de la beta -lactamase, qui sont structurellement non apparentés au produit naturel et aux inhibiteurs de la beta -lactamase semi-synthétique actuellement disponibles, et ne nécessitent pas un pharmacophore du beta -lactame. L'invention concerne en outre des compositions pharmaceutiques et des méthodes pouvant inhiber la croissance bactérienne.
