Sulfonated and oxidized indene polymers obtainable by (a) polymerization of indene or indene derivatives of the general formula I Image I where R1 is hydrogen, methyl or ethyl and n is 1 or 2, or of mixtures which contain the compounds I as well as other copo- lymerizable and/or non-polymerizable organic compounds in an amount of at least 10% by weight, (b) sulfonation of the polymer with a sulfonating agent at from 40 to 130°C, and (c) non-chain-degrading oxidation of the polymer at from 80 to 180°C. These indene polymers are suitable for use as dispersants for example in dye and pigment preparations.
On prépare des polymères sulfonés et oxydés d'indène (a) en polymérisant l'indène ou des dérivés d'indène ayant la formule générale (I), dans laquelle R<1> désigne hydrogène, méthyle ou éthyle et n vaut 1 ou 2, ou des mélanges qui contiennent les composés ayant la formule (I), outre au moins 10 % en poids d'autres composés organiques copolymérisables et/ou non polymérisables; (b) en sulfonant le polymère avec un agent sulfonant à des températures comprises entre 40 et 130 DEG C; et (c) en oxydant le polymère de manière à ne pas rompre ses chaînes à des températures comprises entre 80 et 180 DEG C. Ces polymères d'indène sont utiles comme agents dispersants, par exemple dans des compositions de colorants et de pigments.
