Sulfonyl derivatives of structural formula I are selective inhibitors of the 11.beta.-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenase-1. The compounds are useful for the treatment of diabetes, such as noninsulin-dependent diabetes (NIDDM), hyperglycemia, obesity, insulin resistance, dyslipidemia, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, Metabolic Syndrome or Syndrome X, and other symptoms associated with NIDDM.
Les dérivatifs de la formule structurelle I sont des inhibiteurs sélectifs de la 11ß-hydroxystéroide déshydrogénase-1. Ces composés sont utiles pour le traitement du diabète, notamment le diabète non insulino-dépendant (DNID), l~hyperglycémie, l~obésité, l~insulinorésistance, la dyslipidémie, l~hyperlipidémie, l~hypertension, le syndrome métabolique ou syndrome X et autres symptômes associés au DNID.
