I) in which A denotes a C1-C10-hydrocarbon radical, R1 denotes saturated or unsaturated alkyl or cycloalkyl, each of which can be substituted by halogen or radicals from the group comprising saturated or unsaturated alkoxy or alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, cycloalkyl, a radical of a three- to six-membered saturated heterocycle having an oxygen atom in the ring, furyl, phenyl, optionally substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, CF3, alkoxy-carbonyl and/or nitro, or R1 denotes phenyl, optionally substituted by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, CF3, alkoxycarbonyl or nitro, or R1 denotes a radical of the formula -CO-R5, -CHR6-COOR7, -CHR6-CH2-COOR7 or -CH2-CHR6-COOR7, where, in the formulae, R5 represents alkyl, R6 represents hydrogen, alkyl, phenyl or benzyl and R7 represents alkyl, phenyl or benzyl, Y denotes S or SO2, R2 denotes H, saturated or unsaturated alkyl, optionally substituted by halogen, saturated or unsaturated alkoxy, alkylthio, alkylsulfinyl, alkylsulfonyl, alkoxycarbonyl, phenoxycarbonyl, benzyloxycarbonyl or phenyl; or C3-C8-cycloalkyl, optionally substituted by halogen, alkoxy or alkylthio; or cycloalkenyl, cyclopropylmethyl, epoxypropyl, furfuryl, tetrahydrofurfuryl, phenoxy-C1-C6-alkyl, phenyl, or phenoxyalkyl or phenyl which is substituted in the phenyl ring by halogen, alkyl, alkoxy or nitro, R3 denotes H, saturated or unsaturated alkyl, or C1-C4-alkoxy, R4 denotes a radical of the formula (see fig.II), (see fig. III), (see fig. IV), (see fig. V), (see fig. VI), (see fig. VII), (see fig. VIII) or (see fig. IX) R8 and R9 denote H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxyalkylthio, or the latter 3 radicals substituted by halogen, alkoxy or alkylthio; or NR14R15, cycloalkyl, -OCHR16COOR17, unsaturated alkyl or alkoxy, R10 denotes H or alkyl; R11 denotes alkyl, -CHF2 or -CH2CF3; R12 denote H, alkyl, alkoxy or halogen; R13 denotes H, alkyl, CHF2 or CH2CF3; R14 and R15 denote H, saturated or unsaturated alkyl; R16 and R17 denote H or alkyl; E denotes CH or N; G denotes CH2 or O and Z denotes O or S, as well as the salts thereof have herbicidal and plant-growth regulatory properties on mono- and dicotyledonous plants.
