ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Apparatus for melting block sulphur has a heating element comprising an array of mutually spaced and parallel pipes, a steam inlet and a steam and condensate outlet. Mech- anisms are provided for supporting the heating element in an at least approximately upright disposition and advancing the heat- ing element in such disposition and in a direction at least ap- proximately parallel to the ground towards the sulphur.
