ABSTRACT A sunlamp whose radiation transmitting envelope has a cylindrical internal surface at least one-half of which is coated with a layer of aluminum oxide which constitutes a reflector. The remaining part of the internal surface of the envelope and the internal surface of the aluminum oxide layer are coated with a layer which consists essentially of cerium- strontium-magnesium aluminate and emits radiation primarily in the UVA band of ultraviolet radiation and in the visible range of the spectrum. Radiation whose wavelength is less than that of the radiation in the UVA band is intercepted by iron which is contained in the vitreous material of the envelope. - 1 -
