To prevent a saddle from sliding rearward on a horse, a device known as a breastplate is attached to the saddle. The breastplate is attached to two metal D's in front of the saddle, on each side of the horse, and a third or central strap is secured to the breastplate and extends downward from the base of the horse's neck and between the horse's front legs for connection to the girth forming a part of the saddle. The two metal D's are usually installed by saddle manufacturers, however they dohave the tendency to come loose and separate from saddle when exposed to tensionfrom breastplate over a period of time. Replacing these D's is cumbersome, so it is with this in mind the inventor developed a method whereby the tension from the breastplate can be transferred from the saddle manufacturer's installed metal D's to a superior point of strength, the stirrup bar, without alteration to saddle or breastplate.
