ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a super-saturated solution of isosorbide dinitrate (ISD) and a process for its production. This invention is based on the discovery that stable super-saturated solutions can be prepared in the absence of solid ISD. These solutions may be aqueous or solutions in which the water is replaced wholly or completely by another physiologically acceptable organic solvent, e.g. 1,2-propylene glycol. The super-saturated solutions which are the subject of this invention are used in the preparation of infusion solutions for administering ISD parenterally for the control of heart disease and disorders e.g. angina pectoris.
