Superconducting compound oxide represented by the general formula: (T1(1-p-q)Bi p Pb q)Sr2Ca2Cu3O w in which "w", "p" and "q" are numbers each satisfying respective ranges of 5.0 ~ w, 0.12 ~ p ~ 0.3, and 0.1 ~ q ~ 0.6, wherein the crystal structure of said superconducting compound oxide is a layered structure of a tetragonal system which has one layer of T1-O, (T1, Pb)-O, (T1, Bi)-O or (T1, Pb, Bi)-O, and wherein the superconducting compound oxide is relatively easily obtained as a single phase.
