An article, for example a pipe (11a, 11b), has a first covering (13a, 13b) such as a polymer layer, and a second covering, such as a repair patch (18a) or a repair deposit of melt-on adhesive (22) or a wrap or a sleeve (16) protecting a welded joint (12) between two lengths (11a, 11b) of such pipe. The second covering (16) may have a functional coating (16b) on an underside which is applied on and is at least partially superimposed over the first covering (13a, 13b). A cured deposit (17, 21, 23) of thermoset resin is applied at least over the edges of the second covering (16, 18a, 22), for example in the form of a fibrous tape impregnated with a curable resin composition, and bonds to the first (13a, 13b) and second covering (16, 18a, 22). The resin deposit (17, 21, 23) provides the second covering (16, 18a, 22) with increased stability against displacement laterally of said first covering (13a, 13b), for example as a result of soil stress.

Le dépôt de résine (17, 21, 23) améliore la résistance du second revêtement (16, 18a, 22) contre les risques de déplacement latéral par rapport au premier revêtement (13a, 13b), par exemple sous l'effet de contraintes se produisant dans le sol.
