ABSTRACT An improved superplasticizer composition is produced by substi- tuting whey, which is a by-product of the manufacture of cheese from milk, for a portion of known superplasticizers such as alkali salts of sulfonated polymers and oligomers. The resulting super- plasticizer composition, which is cheaper than conventional super- plasticizers, imparts extended slump retention to concrete and other mineral slurries.
