Abstract The present invention relates to a superpurifier for nitrogen and to a process for purifying a nitrogen gas. The superpurifier of this invention provides means for contacting an impurity-containing nitrogen gas with a getter of an alloy consisting of from 15 to 30% by weight iron and from 70 to 85% by weight zirconium. The process of the present invention comprises contacting an impurity- containing gas with such a getter. The invention is particularly directed to a superpurifier and process for purifying an impurity-containing gas to a higher purity than that obtained by conventional purification processes.
