SUPPLEMENTAL AIR FILTER FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINES Abstract of the Disclosure A supplemental air filter for internal combustion engines comprises a porous foam filter element posi- tioned across an air inlet opening to an air filter housing for the engine. The supplemental filter is used in conjunction with a conventional air filter element in the housing, is substantially self cleaning and provides improved filtering of air along with enhanced distribution of intake air around and a greatly extended life of the conventional filter element.
