A supplemental dietary composition which, e.g., enhances muscle performance or recovery from fatigue, including glycine and L-arginine alpha- ketoisocaproic acid calcium (GAKIC), wherein the L-arginine is in a base or monohydrochloride salt form, and an effective amount of a flavor component, e.g., a bitter-mask flavor, acesulfame potassium (ACE-K), etc. The GAKIC may be in granular or fine milled form. Also provided is a method of enhancing muscle performance or recovery from fatigue by consuming a supplemental dietary compositions that includes GAKIC and an effective amount of a flavor component. Also provided is a method for preparing compositions including GAKIC and an effective amount of a flavor component.
