ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A box-type cantilever beam extends above the upper lip wall of the slice of the headbox of a paper machine. A control device on the front wall of the cantiliver beam, and coupled to the upper lip wall, controls the position of the upper lip wall in a vertical plane. The upper lip wall has a rear pivot in opera- tive relation with a slide arrangement which controls the position of the upper lip wall in directions in the plane of the upper lip wall and perpendicular to the direction of positioning by the con- trol device.
