The support apparatus is used for supporting a disabled person into a tilted or generally vertical position during a few hours each day, in an alternative to being in a bed or sitting in a chair. The apparatus has a table to receive the body of the user. The table is tiltable with respect to a pair of arms which support the table. The arms are pivotable in the vertical plane and are joined together by a horizontal connecting member. The arms are activated by a screw, extending horizontally and longitudinally in the base portion of the apparatus. The screw is connected to the lower ends of the arms by a pivoting mechanism. The apparatus allows the height of the table to beeasily adjusted, thereby facilitating the positioning of the user on the table.
