The present invention relates to a support structure for a portable instrument support assembly. The support structure is collapsible, the support structure being reversibly configurable between a configuration for the stowage of the instrument and a configuration for working the instrument. The support structure comprises a telescoping support means and a coupling means for an articulated connection of a portable instrument to the telescoping means. The support structure may be used for an assembly for supporting or carrying a portable instrument on a limb member such as, for example, an (fore)arm.
