A supported olefin polymerization catalyst system and a method of making it are disclosed. The catalyst system comprises: (a) a support chemically treated with an organoaluminum, organosilicon, organomagnesium, or organoboron compound; (b) a single-site catalyst that contains a polymerization-stable, heteroatomic ligand; and (c) an activator. Chemical treatment is a key to making supported heterometallocenes that have high activity and long shelf- lives, and can effectively incorporate comonomers.
L'invention se rapporte à un système catalyseur supporté destiné à la polymérisation d'oléfines et à un procédé de fabrication dudit catalyseur. Ce système catalyseur comporte: (a) un support traité chimiquement à l'aide d'un composé organo-aluminium, organo-silicium, organo-magnésium ou organo-bore; (b) un catalyseur monosite contenant un ligand hétéroatomique, stable à la polymérisation; et (c) un activateur. Le traitement chimique est essentiel pour permettre la fabrication d'hétérométallocènes supportés qui sont dotés d'une forte activité et d'une durée de conservation importante et peuvent efficacement contenir des monomères.
