A B S T R A C T A method is described for increasing the activity and extending the life of supported silver-catalysts, as used in producing ethylene oxide with oxygen or oxygen containing gases. The method employs the aid of promotor metals known per se, use being made of an intimate mixture consisting of a silver-carrier-catalyst and promotor-metal compounds of suitable shape or a carrier material containing only the desired promotor-metal compounds.
