SUPPORTING TABLE COOLING APPARATUS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE An apparatus for cooling a supporting table which supports a machine tool which has a spindle includes a radiator which is fluidly connected to a hollow por- tion of the supporting table via a pair of pipes. A cooling medium, such as freon, is introduced into the hollow portion of the supporting table after a pres- sure in the hollow portion has been reduced. Heat absorbed by the supporting table is absorbed by the cooling medium, thus causing it to evaporate and flow into the radiator where the latent heat of evaporiza- tion is radiated away, thus causing the evaporated cooling medium to condense and flow back into the hollow portion of the supporting table.
