An adjustable bent housing for use in downhole drilling which includes a housing, mandrel, ring and locking mechanism. The housing has a housing central axis, a downward facing end face defining a plane whose normal is offset from the housing central axis, and an inner shoulder parallel to the downward facing end face. The mandrel has a mandrel central axis, a first end dimensioned to fit inside the housing and having a downward facing outer shoulder defining a plane offset from the mandrel central axis. The ring is axially slidable on the mandrel, with a ring central axis and an upward facing end face defining a plane whose normal is offset from the ring central axis. A locking mechanism, a mandrel head threaded onto the mandrel, engages and disengages the upward facing end face of the ring with the downward facing end face of the housing and simultaneously engages and disengages the inner shoulder of the housing with the outer shoulder of the mandrel. Keys or like means are used to control the position of the ring on the mandrel in selected circumferential positions only. One of the keys may be differently sized from other keys. Preferably markings on the ring and housing are used indicate relative degrees of rotation of the housing in relation to the ring.

Cette invention concerne un support d'outil de forage à déviation réglable qui comporte un logement, un mandrin, une bague et un mécanisme de verrouillage. Le logement centré autour d'un axe longitudinal comporte une face d'extrémité inférieure définissant un plan dont la normale est inclinée par rapport à l'axe longitudinal du logement et un épaulement intérieur parallèle à la face d'extrémité inférieure. Le mandrin ayant un axe de symétrie longitudinal comporte une première extrémité de diamètre inférieur à celui du logement et un épaulement extérieur côté fond du trou définissant un plan dont la normale est inclinée par rapport à l'axe longitudinal du mandrin. La bague est montée de façon à pouvoir coulisser axialement sur le mandrin et comporte une face supérieure définissant un plan dont la normale est inclinée par rapport à son axe longitudinal. Un mécanisme de verrouillage, soit une tête de mandrin vissée sur le mandrin, permet de solidariser et, alternativement, de désolidariser la face supérieure de la bague et la face inférieure du logement et, en même temps, de solidariser/désolidariser l'épaulement intérieur du logement et l'épaulement extérieur du mandrin. Des clavettes ou moyens analogues servent à bloquer la bague sur le mandrin dans diverses positions circonférentielles. Une des clavettes peut être de taille différente de celle des autres. De préférence, des marques sur la bague et le logement servent à repérer le degré de rotation relative du logement par rapport à la bague.
